SESSION.SALON REBRAND
STORY
SESSION.SALON is a hair education program of hand-picked haircare professionals who are leaders within their field and widely admired by their peers. It’s nature of exclusivity impacts the way they look, the way they communicate, and how they function. SESSION.SALON was born from a desire to inspire hairdressers to think beyond the chair and explore new ideas to evolve their skills, their personal style, and ultimately, their businesses. Most importantly, it keeps them creative.
CONCEPT
There is something about the distinct sounds of a photoshoot that calls for attention. For this campaign, we wanted to explore this feeling and replicate it. The shutter, the powerpack beep that cues up the lights, then, a finish with a flash. This sequence injects energy into a room that’s ignites passion amongst a group of creatives on set. While on this set, the models were interviewed while being photographed. They told us about their individual styles and how their unconventional features make them special or unique.

Behind the Scenes
The education team wanted to rebrand and elevate the look of the education program and programming materials for SESSION.SALON. My role was to concept and provide a new direction for the program. SESSION.SALON only had one brand image and logo at the time with a black and white color palette. After examining SESSION.SALON’s program identity, I helped design their new direction. We elevated the program to feel like it’s own in-house brand and a strong extension of KEVIN.MURPHY. I created the new brand identity, iconography, and logo through researched design. My inspiration behind the rebrand was to better represent fashion and the partnership between the KEVIN.MURPHY brand and its SESSION.SALON programming. I did this by using a fashion runway to represent the obvious, but also to represent the equal importance of both brand and education within the brand.

Introducing SESSION.SALON’s new look and first-ever brand campaign - The Changing Client.
The campaign is all about the connection between the client and their stylist and how their hair elevates the way they feel. A client’s positive experience greatly impacts their confidence. Our campaign video series evokes emotion while showing stylists what SESSION.SALON does and what SESSION.SALON stands for.
The video series connects us to all of the faces and different hair textures within our world and industry. It is all about how to communicate best in order to provide the client with an elevated, customized experience. Click below to watch.
